Beginning: Cast on 12 stitches to begin the center runner

General Instructions: This is an oblong piece. It begins by working a long center runner in rows.
Then stitches are picked up around that runner and from there the piece is worked in rounds. When working in rows, purl all the even numbered rows. When working in rounds, knit the even numbered rounds.

Finishing: [Chain 9, sc through the next 4 stitch loops
chain 9, sc through the next 3 stitch loops
chain 9, sc through the next 4 stitch loops
